Our March meeting saw the election of a “new” Committee with Peter, John, Kathryn, Gloria, Roger and Ann all agreeing to serve again. While their dedication to our Club is admirable, other members should give serious consideration to whether they can share in the responsibility for making sure our Club runs smoothly.
In a very welcome development, our April meeting saw the announcement that John Davenport had volunteered to serve as our Events Officer. In making that announcement, Peter, our President, thanked Roger for the all work he had done in organising events for us in the absence of an Events Officer.
John D has got off to a flying start with a piece in the April’s Narra Notes, available here, explaining how he sees the role with details of the things he has already organised with an update in the May issue, available here.
In recent weeks, members have enjoyed our weekly afternoon teas and our monthly informal dinner as well as a visit to Dirty Jane’s Emporium in Fyshwick that included morning coffee, and lunch at the Blackstone Cafe at Geoscience Australia .
The guest speakers at our last Club meeting on 9 April were two ladies from Tender Funerals Canberra spoke about the philosophy of their organisation and the services that it offers. More details about those things can be found here.

About us
Narrabundah Probus Club was formed in September 2019 to encourage active retirement in the communities of Narrabundah, Griffith and surrounds. We meet at 11:15am on the second Tuesday of the month at the Harmonie German Club on Jerrabomberra Ave.
Visitors are always welcome.
Members also meet for a casual dinner on the fourth Thursday of the month and for coffee and chat at 2.30pm on Wednesdays at Gryphons in the Griffith shops.
Next meeting
Our next Club meeting will be held at 11:15am on Tuesday, 14 May 2024, at the Harmonie German Club. Our guest speaker will be Julie Tongs OAM, Chief Executive Officer of Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services who will talk about the work of her organisation. Our next casual dinner is on 30 May at the Vanilla Pod Pizza & Pasta Bar at 35 Kennedy St, Kingston at 6 for 6:30 pm.
Probus Club membership
The Probus Club year begins on 1 April. Our annual fee is $30 and new members pay a once-off joining fee of $30. A pro rata reduction in the annual fee is offered to those who join part way through the year.
